How it works

A stranger can reach you. They still learn nothing about you.

There are two sides to xNocall: the person who scans your sticker, and you. Neither side ever sees the other's phone number, and no call is routed through one.

If someone scans your car

  1. They scan the code

    Any phone camera will do. The code opens a page on our site — nothing is installed, and nothing is downloaded.

  2. The sticker is checked

    The page confirms the sticker is real and currently active. If it has never been activated, or has been silenced or revoked, the page says so and stops there.

  3. They ask to reach you

    If the sticker is active, they can request a call. They are not asked for a name, an email, or a phone number, and they are not shown yours.

  4. You choose what happens

    Your registered device can ring. You can answer it, reject it, or leave it. Nothing is connected without you.

Setting up your own sticker

  1. Fix the sticker to your car

    Somewhere it can be read from outside, typically the inside of the windscreen.

  2. Activate it

    Activate the sticker to link it to your account. From then on the sticker is yours, and scans of it reach you.

What each side can see

The person scanning sees

  • That the sticker is active, or that it is not
  • A display label, if you set one
  • Whether their request to call was accepted

They do not see your number, your name or your location.

You see

  • That a call is being requested
  • Which of your stickers it came from
  • Your own stickers and registered devices

You do not see their number either. Nobody does.

Why the code in the link is handled carefully

The sticker's code travels in the part of a web address that browsers never send to a server. It is read by the scan page in the browser and then cleared from the address bar, so it does not linger in history or in a screenshot. It is not written into the page and not stored on the device.

One consequence worth knowing: reloading the scan page will not work, because the code has already been cleared. Scanning the sticker again is the intended way back, and the sticker is right there.
